Academic

The academic of Maryville to Argentina are more similar than I expected. However, there is not as much work as it is here. The classroom would be different because there would be more diversity.  Also, only one credit will transfer over. Other than this difference the style and flow of the classroom will be similar because the course is thought in english be american styled professors. The credit systems for both countries match. Therefore, my 3 credits earned matches in both countries. On the CEA website it also shows the number of credits that are earned. Letter grades in Argentina are however different. Instead of having letter grades, Argentina has a number grade system 1-10 system . I was not able to find academic support services, but it did say that there are people that will assist me getting around the city and help me with any questions I may have. To have a full course load there for the summer you can either take a 1 course load worth three credits or a 2 course load worth 6 credits. In maryville it is required to have 6 credits. Therefore, I will be taking the 2 course load.

An American Abroad (AAA)

Based on the surveys I took, I feel I will be very open to the new challenges I will partake in while abroad. Some of my strengths will be that I am very open-minded, always aware of my surroundings, and I enjoy new things. However, there are also a little stuff that I may struggle with. The main thing I may struggle with is that as an American, I am a somewhat independent person as most Americans are. However, most Latin American countries including Argentina are very integrated. They do a lot of things as a whole. Although it showed up as one of my weaknesses on the survey, I feel that it will not be that much of a challenge. I am a people's person and is very open-minded so I will be willing to partake in the groups activities. Moreover, after doing more stuff in groups in Argentina, I may begin to like it instead of being a more independent person or I could just adapt to it and go back to being more independent once I return to the US. Either way i feel this experience will teach me a lot about myself.

Goals

My goal for studying abroad is to further my knowledge about the business side of sports. Since I major in physical education and minor in business, learning about international business in sports is a great way to gain knowledge in both areas of my studies. I am very excited to attend this study abroad trip and meet new people. The only fear I have is the fear of flying. Three things I want to do while I'm over there is maximize my experience, meet new people, and to learn more about another culture.
