Santiago is the beautiful capital of Chile. I will be staying in Valparaiso, about an hour away from Santiago. I would love to be able to spend a weekend in Santiago just doing things that normal tourists do. (A lot more people in Santiago speak English than anywhere else in Chile, so this could make my weekend easier to enjoy!) I want to learn to like new foods and drinks while I am abroad, so touring a winery and taking a cooking class will be perfect. I also cannot wait to see how beautiful the mountains and local scenery is, so going to a local park and sight seeing tour will make for the perfect getaway weekend in Santiago!
Friday Afternoon:
- Take the "Green Toad Tur" Bus from Valparaiso to Santiago (approximately 1-1.5 hours and around $100)
- Check into the Marriott in Santiago ($319 per night)
Saturday Morning:
- Eat breakfast at the hotel and take the local bus to meet your tour group (Sightseeing Tour- $89)
- Stop and eat a late lunch and the local restaurant, Aqui Esta Coco ($40)
- Walk through the Parque Araucano and enjoy the beautiful views on the way back to the hotel that evening
Sunday:
- Spend the day taking the Las Condes Wine tour and enjoy tastings and a cooking class
